UNBOUND

Discrimination, body shaming & violence. This is ballet in 2024.  But a group of defiant young dancers want to fight back. They create a radical, diverse company, and open their doors to other traumatised, talented, abuse survivors, and attempt to ‘reclaim the stage’.

They find a dilapidated studio, and Chase Johnsey, a gender-fluid ballet insurgent, to direct them. But, they have no money, no reputation, and no experience. The dancers are brave, but deeply fragile. They must confront their traumas if they are ever to take the stage again. It is a journey of pain, hope, resistance, & groundbreaking, liberated ballet. 

Unbound is a 2024 production that tells the origin story of the company Ballet de Barcelona.
